Rabbit's Race 10k, 400m positive altitude (20/10/2024)
A specially designed route for trail running rookies. The route includes minimal trail sections, to avoid being overly technical. However, it is no less beautiful, since it takes place on small (narrow) forest roads in oak forest.
The 10 km race start takes place at the Tihio amphitheatre, which has been adapted for this purpose. The first few kilometres of the route are uphill, following a forest road. At km 4.4, you will meet a main dirt road and turn left and downhill. After 200 metres, you will come to a trail leading to the aid station. The race marshals will then point you in the right direction, to a small downhill road that soon becomes a trail (diverging from the larger races, which now head for the village of Palioxari).
At km 5.8, follow the steep downhill dirt road. At km 6.8 you will come to the asphalt road, where you need to follow the signs leading downhill to the left. After about 200 metres, leave the asphalt road behind you and follow the signs leading you downhill and to the right. After passing outside the village cemetery, a dirt road will lead you to Tihio village, at km 7.8, where you will find the aid station. After crossing the village, a footpath will take you to the last section of dirt road and a short uphill climb will lead you to the finish line (in the adapted amphitheatre), having run a total of 10.6 km.
